How to Disclose Sponsored Posts in Thailand (#ad)
Updated November 1, 2026
If you got anything in return (cash, a meal, a table, tickets or products), tell your audience it's an ad. The clearest way is #โฆษณา at the start of your caption, plus the platform's own ad label.
Why you need to disclose
- Thai law doesn't allow ads that mislead consumers. A paid review dressed up as something you paid for yourself risks falling into that.
- The platforms require it. TikTok and Instagram both have policies that branded content must be labelled, and unlabelled posts can be limited or removed.
- Your audience trusts you more, not less. People know creators take gigs; what breaks trust is finding out it was hidden.
- Venues on Ngaan can see it. We check every post you deliver for an ad label and show the venue the result.
This is general information, not legal advice. For high-value gigs or complicated terms, talk to a professional.
Which hashtag to use
| Tag / label | Use it when | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| #โฆษณา | Paid, or you got anything in return | Clearest for Thai viewers; fine as your main tag |
| #ad / #sponsored | Part of your audience is international | Use alongside #โฆษณา |
| #gifted | You got a free product, meal or ticket | Says it wasn't cash, but still discloses you got something |
| #สปอนเซอร์ | A brand sponsored the post | Works in place of #โฆษณา |
| Platform label | Every branded post | TikTok: turn on Content disclosure. Instagram: the Paid partnership label |
Ngaan looks for #โฆษณา, #สปอนเซอร์, #ad, #sponsored and #gifted in the posts you deliver. Use at least one and the venue sees you disclosed.
How to make it actually visible
- Put it at the start of the caption, not buried after 30 hashtags behind "more".
- Turn on the platform label as well. The caption tag and the platform label work together.
- Say it or show it in the video, like "invited by the venue", because plenty of people never read captions.
- Label every piece, stories included. If you agreed on 1 post + 3 stories, all 4 get labelled.
- Don't rely on vague tags like #sp, #collab or #thankyou alone. Viewers can't tell they mean you were paid.
Do gifted posts count?
Yes. Disclosure isn't about whether you got cash; it's about whether you got something from the venue or brand.
- A free meal or tasting menu to review.
- A table at a bar or club, event tickets, entry passes.
- A treatment, a trial class, a free night's stay.
- Products sent to you. Even if the brand says "no need to post", if you do post, disclose it.
- Special discounts or affiliate commission.

Venues that serve alcohol: the rules since 8 Nov 2025
Since 8 November 2025, the amended Alcoholic Beverage Control Act (No. 2) bans creators from promoting alcohol brands, by name or logo, for commercial benefit, including indirectly. Adding #โฆษณา does not make showing an alcohol brand okay.
- Keep out of content you got something for: alcohol brand names or logos, bottles or labels in shot, brand-coloured merchandise, or hints that point to a brand.
- You can still film: the space, the food, the music, the view and the mocktails.
- Always add #โฆษณา, because a free table or free drinks count as getting something.
- Visit gigs at venues that serve alcohol are 20+ only.
This is general information, not legal advice. Breaking the Act can lead to fines for the person who posts and for the venue. If a venue asks you to show a drinks brand, refuse and report it from the gig page. Read our alcohol advertising rules.
FAQ
›Where should I put #ad?
At the start of the caption, visible without tapping "more", plus the TikTok or Instagram ad label. On video, saying it or showing it on screen is clearest.
›Do I need to disclose free products?
Yes. Free products, meals and tickets all count as getting something. Add #โฆษณา or #gifted where people can see it.
›Should I use #ad or #โฆษณา?
If most of your audience is Thai, use #โฆษณา as your main tag. If you have international viewers too, add #ad alongside it.
›Can creators review bars in Thailand?
Yes, the atmosphere, food, music and mocktails, if you're 20 or older. But no alcohol brand names, logos, bottles or labels. See the rules.
